Hi everybody,

I'm not sure if this subject was discussed list before or not. If so, sorry
for inconvenience. (-:

The question is related to "identd". Is it necessary for Mailing System to
work properly or not? And if not, can I block its port (113) on the firewall
without causing any problem for the services?

I read somewhere that it's better to block "identd connections" by "reset
action in IPFW" instead of "deny" or something like that. Blocking the port
with using "deny action" makes the services like "sendmail" or "ircd" very
slow.

thanks,
Nazila M.
