Forgive me, but why in the world would you want to use the FreeBSD bootloader if you're just using 2k? As for the boot loader itself, I don't know a convenient way of installing it without FreeBSD, since several files are dependant on FreeBSD actually being installed. If you just want to be cute and have a different bootloader, you may want to look at the GRUB from the Hurd project.
