using 
fdisk -u /dev/rsd1

remove the flags=80 for all but one of the slices..
theoretically having more than one being the boot partition doesn't make
sense. I have taken that as a sign of an corrupted or nonsinsical
bootblock but apparantly the sysinstall can do this..
