A bz2 is a file compressed with bzip, a drop-in replacement for gzip, but with more efficient compression. A bzipped file is smaller than the same file run through gzip and max compression. bzip2 is in /usr/ports/archivers/bzip2. Go there and "make build". If that works, "make install clean". Syntax is generally the same as for gzip. You can untar with: bunzip2 < file.bz2 | tar xf - R. Kevin Oberman, Network Engineer Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) Ernest O.
