After doing this, I noticed some crud lying around on my machine that might have been contributing to problems for me. I noticed that the aout version of libc was coming from /usr/lib/aout, which I guess is an old place that libraries were kept. This is probably one more thing people can look for to ensure that they are using the newest versions of the compatibility libraries.
