Just following this up, on a 2.2-SNAP version, on a Pentium, fbsd should automatically be detecting the RAM size right? In LINT it says that fbsd will read the amount of memory from CMOS. A Pentium CMOS displays all of this doesn't it? Or does one still have to add the appropriate MAXMEM tweek!
