Subject: Soundblaster Live detected by kernel, but not working

Hi,

I'm trying to get my Soundblaster Audigy (which should be backwards compatible
with a Soundblaster Live) to work under 4.6-RELEASE. The result of "dmesg |
grep pcm" is as follows:

pcm0: <Creative EMU10K2> port 0xd800-0xd81f irq 9 at device 11.0 on pci2

so it seems the kernel's found it. However I can't get any sound either
through xmms, KDE, or by cat'ing a large file to /dev/audio (I have made the
necessary devices using "sh MAKEDEV snd0"). My mixer settings are sane, so
it's not just a case of turning the volume up ;)

Anyone have any ideas?
thanks
Alex
