My understanding may be flawed (and I am interested in learning...) but I though one of the advantages of using threads over forking was that multiple threads can share the same memory resident copy of the binary and that only data memory had to be allocated for each thread, where as forked processes each need there own resident copy of the program. Therefore threads use less memory and theoretically so can Apache 2 except, sadly, on FreeBSD... James.
