Ah, yes. This problem. Sadly, it seems almost all new laptops that I have played with suffer from this... Pretty much every new Toshiba or Centrino laptop I've tried, anyway. Try switching any "Plug and Play OS" type options in your BIOS to "No" or similar. This fixes at least one laptop I've tried. Also, try breaking to the loader prompt at the Beastie menu, and typing set hw.pci.enable_io_modes="1" boot Please test one, then the other, then both. Hopefully at least one of the combinations will work. Please can you report back here with the results? Sadly, I haven't been able to get hold of an affected laptop long enough to narrow the problem down further.
