Did I miss a step somewhere? Looks just like mine, except a more recent rev and the codec is different. Mine works, listening to mp3s (Meatloaf) right now. Now, there are more recent versions of the ES1371 that seem to only be supported under 4.0 at the moment (the one in my home machine, in fact), but I thought that was only for revs 6 and 8 or higher.
