That is much more stable than '-O'. Seems to be an incompatibility with 
Intel. The '-g' option rearranges the code. At least that was the explanation
I got.

I run radiusd combined with a shell script that checks it every 15 seconds
to make sure its still running. It sometimes runs for days.

This is a hack, but I'm holding out for the next release from Merit.
