I got almost the same on CURRENT:
FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm)

pcm0: <ESS Technology Maestro-2E> at I/O port 0x1400 irq 5 (4p/0r/0v
channels duplex default)
It says: 4 play channels, 0 record ones. What is "v" channels?
Is recording supported on Maestro-2E at all?
