Huh?  First, &#8482; is the trade mark sign in the ISO 10646
international character set, as specified in HTML 4, =A75.3.1 [1], so
it's not dependant on the document character set.=20

Second, if you want to mark trade marks in another way in another
language, that should be done by overriding the rule in a language
specific stylesheet, similar to what is done with generated words,
such as the "Next", "Prev", etc links.
