I have just rebuilt my kernel to include the ppp devices and seem
to be crashing the machine trying to figure out how it works.

The error that is crashing the machine is:

pppd : ioctl(TIOCSCTTY): operation not permitted.

I get this after dialing into a modem (ttyd0) and typing:

pppd /dev/ttyd0 38400

If anyone has a cookbook example of how pppd is supposed to be setup
I would appreciate it. I have read the PPP.faq file and used the
options file listed for a server type arrangement.
