Indeed, ignoring the tests is not a "solution", as you're saying.
I'm not proposing a new kernel config option as a "solution". It's
only an easy workaround for some __Iwill__ motherboards (and
perhaps some Compaqs). After every update of the FreeBSD sources
(using CVSup), the file sio.c is renewed. Then, before compiling
a new kernel, patching sio.c is needed again, and again...
If a definitive solution for this sio problem were discovered
some time in the future, that kernel config option could be
removed.
