Or since you have fxtv 0.47, just run "fxtv -debug startup" and mail us the
output.

Other things to check.  Run xmix or your favorite mixer and make sure your
CD, Line, and Main input levels are up.  Or run mixer delivered with the
system) to do the same:

        mixer vol 100 line 100 cd 100

Something else to check:  Do you have multiple soundcards in your system?

Also, I'm assuming you have audio working on your soundcard ("cat /kernel >
/dev/audio" and make sure you hear something ugly :-)
