It may take a while. Another possibility is that this is a MMC compliant CD-R drive. cdda2wav can apparantly handle MMC drives. From the spec, MMC drives use a different read command that includes an "expected sector type", which you can set to CD-DA. Anyway, verbose output from cdda2wav might help me figure out whether that is indeed the case.
