The wd driver is no longer preferred and config will complain (but allow you to use it) if you wish to keep using it over the new and more advanced ad driver. The ad driver was written from scratch and (usually) handles newer disks better and faster. Also, if you do not move the sendmail.cf into /etc/mail, 4.x's sendmail will not use it.
