            Bug ID: 262901
Summary: mountroot failes with error 19 (ENODEV)
           Product: Base System
           Version: 13.0-RELEASE
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Some People
          Priority: ---
         Component: kern
          Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: nkoch@demig.de

I have two embedded boards with different chipset, which work without any
problems under FreeBSD 10.3/i386 and 12.1/i386.

FreeBSD 13.0/amd64 with generic kernel boots successfully most of the time =
but
not always. It sometimes hangs trying to mount root device.

When I remove unused parts from the kernel (e.g. nfs) making the kernel sma=
ller
and the booting process faster, I see more errors mounting root.

Finally I come to the point where the kernel never successfully mounts its =
root
device.

I see some 'waiting for cam' messages until the kernel drops into the mount=
root
command line. My boot device is a gpt formatted flash.
