Haven't tried your patch yet, but my Xorg.0.log shows this: (--) PCI:*(0:1:0:0) 1002:71c1:174b:0880 ATI Technologies Inc Radeon X1650 Pro rev 158, Mem @ 0xe0000000/268435456, 0xfe9e0000/65536, I/O @ 0x0000d000/256, BIOS @ 0x????????/65536 And later: (--) RADEON(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon X1650" (ChipID = 0x71c1) 268435456 is 256 MiB. I've still got the original box for this card (from Sapphire). It says "RADEON X1650 PRO" and "256 MB GDDR3 memory".
