The success you will have depends on the notebook. I had absolutely no success on toshiba's, and some success on NEC versa/P. Avoid using irq 3, configure and test the card using the windows drivers they provide. After it is configured and working in DOS, copy down the config information reboot fbsd and do a kernel -c to supply the proper setup info. Remember that on some notebooks it will not work no matter what you do :-( I eventually returned the 3c589c card and got some b rev's. You should try the new pccard support for 2.1 and current. It has worked as advertised for me and should support the C rev unless you have one of those "will never work" notebooks. so a quick "good job" for hosokawa@mt.cs.keio.ac.jp and it gets my vote as the first thing you should try :-) Jim Leppek > From patrick@bikini.ecom.unimelb.edu.au Wed Apr 10 06:54:00 1996 > From: Patrick Pleass <patrick@bikini.ecom.unimelb.edu.au> > Subject: 3c589c pcmcia > To: jleppek@suw2k.hisd.harris.com > Date: Wed, 10 Apr 1996 20:58:05 +1000 (EST) > X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL23] > Content-Type> : > text> > > > Hi there.. > > did you ever manage to get this working? > > with FreeBSD that is > > I am pulling my hair out > > Pat >
