I have one bad ticker, too.  I dug this up from the various archives,
and it was also posted here yesterday by someone else.  You need to
rebuild your kernel with these options:

options         CLK_CALIBRATION_LOOP
options         CLK_USE_I8254_CALIBRATION
options         CLK_USE_TSC_CALIBRATION

This should fix it up.  At least it brought my bad ticker to be good
enough that NTP could sync it.  Before it would lose sync all the time
and drift off to never-never land.
