just want to say that I use the promise tx2/2000 raid controllers with no problems at all.. I use them on several hosts with ide disks and for redundancy, or mirroring. bottom line for me is, if one disks fails the system needs to keep on going, and they do.. I made a little script which sends me an email when the array isn't status READY anymore.. in 2.5 years this only once happened with an server at the office, replaced the disk in the weekend when I had the time. this is all good enough for me.. ;-) just my 0,02 -Erik.
