If the machine has network access to an NTP server, you can install and run the Network Time Protocol (NTP) daemon to discipline and synchronize the clock on the machine. It works very well, holding the clock accurate to with a tiny fraction of a second (milliseconds, in good conditions). Twice real time does sound odd, though. Clocks are often off by many seconds a day, but running at twice normal speed sounds like something may be wrong. -- Anthony
