There was a small window (2004/01/22 18:17:44 - 2004/01/25 12:28:36)
where make(1) was broken (I broke it in str.c,v 1.28 and fixed in
str.c,v 1.29).

I've just verified that this was causing the breakage, and apparently
"ident ${CHROOTDIR}/usr/bin/make" will show str.c,v 1.28 on the
snapshot building box.
