Being that I use both linux and FreeBSD (but slow elimanting the need for linux) here's my .02. Look at the version number of X that you use for Linux and FreeBSD. I'm using 3.3.3 on my Debian box and 3.3.4 on my FreeBSD box. If you have a ps/2 mouse the and use the SVGA server with 3.3.4 it won't work X seems broke. But if you boot the machine using console mouse server and use system mouse as the protocal in xf86config it's fine. I don't use the S3 servers but try looking for something along these lines. As a side note, I have got more thing made for Linux to run in FreeBSD than would run on my linux box, that's why I'm changed. > -----Original Message----- > From: Evren Yurtesen [SMTP:yurtesen@ispro.net.tr] > Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 1999 7:34 AM > To: Gunnar Flygt > Cc: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org > Subject: Linux is better than FreeBSD on X? > > I believe something is wrong here but We have a S3 Trio3D > vga card here and it does not work with X! with both 3.3.4 and > 3.3.5 Versions! but with linux it works fine! and when I copy > the conf file generated by XF86Setup program to FreeBSD from Linux > then it still does not work!
