Joe If you're connecting from another Unix machine, there are several ways besides telnet. rsh and rlogin or two of them. However, I understand that there are security issues with these and one should use ssh instead. I believe some form of ssh is available for Windows. I've never used any of the Window X-servers, but when connecting unix to unix you need to set your display variable and export the host (read the fine X manual). BTW, someone mentioned exporting the host with 'xhost +'. This is a big security no-no. It will allow anyone on the network to use the host display.
