I recently aquired a gig SCSI drive...and am looking for a cheap SCSI controller with a BIOS to drive it. I have an Adaptec 1535- not bad, but I can't use it to boot the drive. I'm having difficulty finding a reasonable priced (<150 would be REALLY nice. ;-) ) ISA SCSI card with a BIOS. The 1542 is a bit pricy, considering that it would go in an older ISA (dx2-66) system. I'd just as soon buy a cheap Pentium motherboard and a PCI SCSI card. My hardware requirements aren't terribly taxing...a couple of SCSI-II devices...I don't need ULTRA SCSI. The Tekram 390 card has an appealing price. Does it work well under FBSD 2.2.2? Other recommendations and advice would be appreciated. TIA, John Szumowski harpo@javanet.com
