This bug is pretty annoying btw, I'd really appreciate some thoughts on how to fix it. i'd like to eventually eliminate all the device timeouts and actually _have_ device timeouts be legitimate - ie, that the device couldn't transmit. Grumble, SMP, grumble, preemption, grumble.
