It is only needed for SCSI CDs and yours is clearly ATAPI. I would be interested in the result of: ls -l /dev/acd* FWIW, the "mount -u /" is no longer required. It is implicit in the "mount -a -t ufs", but it should not hurt. You might also want to add: hw.ata.atapi_dma="1" # Run the CD-ROM/DVD in DMA mode to /boot/loder.conf.
