root@rcn / $ uname -a FreeBSD rcn.com 5.2.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.2.1-RELEASE #0: Mon Feb 23 20:45:55 GMT 2004 root@wv1u.btc.adaptec.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 I updated my ports, ran portsdb -Uu and then proceeded to run 'portupgrade -aDDPRrv' to finish the update. Everything went fine except that the 'kdelibs3' port failed. This is the outproot@rcn /usr/ports/x11/kdelibs3 $ make install ===> Installing for kdelibs-3.3.0 ===> kdelibs-3.3.0 conflicts with installed package(s): kdepim-3.2.3_1 They install files into the same place. Please remove them first with pkg_delete(1). *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/x11/kdelibs3. ut from the 'make install' command: If I try to remove 'kdepim-3.2.3_1', I receive the following error message:root@rcn /var/db/pkg $ pkg_delete -dv kdepim-3.2.3_1 pkg_delete: package 'kdepim-3.2.3_1' is required by these other packages and may not be deinstalled: kde-3.2.3 kdeaddons-3.2.3 kdeaddons-kaddressbook-plugins-3.2.3 kdeaddons-kontact-plugins-3.2.3 pkg_delete: 1 package deletion(s) failed Therefore, my question is do I force the deletion of kdepim-3.2.3_1 so that I can install the kdelibs-3.3.0 update? Would this prove to be a bad move? Also, why doesn't the new library simply replace the old one without having to remove anything else? Thanks! Gerard Seibert gerard-seibert@rcn.com -
