Sun workstation equipped with Solaris is often used in University and
research environments, usually Sun workstations are powerful machines. So
the question is - in a caculation environment (modelling, graphing, etc.) is
Solaris faster than FreeBSD? Assuming that FreeBSD is running on a Intel
machine with equivalent frequency, memory, floating point, etc... as a Sun
SPARCstation with Solaris installed. Is FreeBSD suitable for research
institudes?
