Long shot, but here goes: maybe the SRM is probing for LUNs 0-7, the drives responds to all of them, saying "ok" for one (probably LUN 0) and "invalid LUN" for the others. It could be that the SRM has a bug and doesn't pay attention to the response, just to whether it got a response at all or not. A SCSI analyser would be helpful.
