Yes, I haved tried both "SysMouse" and "MouseSystems" both and neither seem
to work.  I've even tried several different ps/2 mice and I get the same
weirdness.

Hi!
Try changing protocol to "SysMouse" or "MouseSystems" instead of "auto".
