I don't think it makes it that more easy. The program I used to check for duplicate code in the kernel is also able to check for duplicate content in textfiles. I runned it over the fortune datafiles and it found a lot of duplicate content, but this was after the first major duplication removal run. Since I can update my src tree only at the weekend with cvsup/cvs, I don't have an actual run avialable.
