My Lenovo T61p has a CD-Rom that I can pull out and put in another device, such as a hard drive or floppy.

However, just taking out my CD-Rom drive hangs the system.

I probably wouldn't care except for the fact that sometimes my son pops it out while I am working and then my system hangs. :-)
