I do not run 14.3-STABLE anymore, but I am pretty sure this wasn't an issue back then, and definitely doesn't seem to be a problem in 15.0-RELEASE. At least I do not recall anyone else having reported such an issue. Can you by any chance try with 15.0 and let me know if the issue persists? I am not sure if that could be a sound card-specific issue, as the muting functionality is done on the sound(4) layer, but if your issue persists we'll have to dig investigate this scenario as well. If you cannot try 15.0, can you at least recompile sound (or your kernel if sound is compiled into the kernel) and re-test? Christoshelp
