The following section at the bottom of the current "em" man page is no longer accurate for RELENG_7:
BUGS
Hardware-assisted VLAN processing is disabled by default. You can enable
it on an em interface using ifconfig(8).
Hardware-assisted VLAN processing does seem to be enabled by default now in RELENG_7, but can be partially disabled using ifconfig. (If you are asking yourself what I mean by partially, read on...)
As a possible addition to the BUGS section of this man page, at the moment there doesn't seem to be any way to disable VLAN_MTU or VLAN_HWCSUM for "em".
