Subject: 2nd X server, howto?

I need to run a 2nd X server on my STABLE machine, so that I can use it to
display a brain dead commercial app from a remote machine. This app will
core dump, if the server has more than 256 colors, and I don't want to live
with that for normal operation.

So I need a 2nd X server on this machine. This 2nd X server will also need
a lighter window manager/desktop, since I'm using Gnome for my primary, and
this would suck up all 256 colors instantly.

Any thoughts as to how to accomplish this?

Pointers to docs appreciated.
