However, interesting output of `iostat` is actually missing, you have to use the GEOM (provider) name as an argument (i.e., use `iostat -w 1 da0` instead of `iostat -w 1 /dev/da0`). I've not tried FAT myself, will do out of curiosity. The degradation you are seeing, I usually see it as well.
