Patches are only supported for the current release (4.7) and the previous one
(4.6.2), which is consistent with FreeBSD security policy. However, some
people have backported patches, notably djhawkins(sp?). I don't know the
site off the top of my head but the link is archived on this mailing list.
I'm pretty sure he can give you hand in disseminating or developing
backports for freebsd before R-4.6.
