If you have a local(ish) CVS repository, make sure you either use "make update"
or "cvs update -d" to tell CVS it's OK to create new directories.  pathchk is 
new and we got bit by this when a user just did "cvs update" in /usr/src.

If you are using cvsup, then check the config to make sure it has permissions 
to create new directories.
