After updating my OS to CURRENT this week I can no longer run OpenOffice. Any OpenOffice startup results in window with the message: The application cannot be started. Unable to create instance of com.sun.star.office.SplashScreen This was all working when I installed the packet for 5.0 last week. I have since re-installed the package and re-created my user OpenOffice.org1.1Beta directory. During user setup I do get two errors during user setup, both copy errors involving /usr/home/oberman/.kde2/share files. I run Gnome and don't have any such directory. (But I didn't have one back when it was working, either.) I think I will grab the 1.02 package and try that. Thanks, R. Kevin Oberman, Network Engineer Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) Ernest O.
