Hello, Hurmpf - it is rather disconcerting, that I can get no further than this rather early point in the installation process. In userconfig, all devices are removed that are not actually installed. Then all remaining devices are verified (including the modem; which is on COM1, irq 4, (3f8). After setting every- thing else up and at the point of entry for the ppp negotiation, I enter 'term' and then issue a command to the modem - for the sake of simplicity 'at'. Then there is a variety of things that will happen; none of which is the response "OK". Either the command is not echoed to the terminal, the command is echoed, or it is echoed one character behind the actual keystroke. Any help would be appreciated. salut sCOTT To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
