Yes. www.yourvote.com (best PCI ID list I've found) lists it as a 
Brooktree Bt878 Video Capture (audio section).

Huh. I wonder if the bktr driver can use that directly...

Actually, I don't bother putting anything in the kernel for 'pcm' these 
days, although I don't think it hurts if you do - KLDs will auto-load 
any dependancies, in this case the 'snd_pcm' KLD.

Heh. I used to listen to Loveline avidly driving home from work fr a 
while there... :-)

Actually, the ESS isn't so bad... I find that it sometimes generates 
awful amounts of hiss - I put up with this for ages until I found that 
turning down all the unused inputs/outputs (especially PC speaker) fixes 
this.

Also, on recent -stable, I find that post-boot or post-resume, the 
Master Output is set to 0 - you can use 'mixer' commands in your 
.xinitrc or rc.resume to take care of this, or I like 'wmix' (OSD mixer 
dockapp for WindowMaker) for interactive use.
