Maybe, I'm currently hacking away on a ATA/ATAPI driver, mostly
to support IDE CDROM's but I'd like to do the disks also (if
time permits).

I would *definitively* go with a SCSI drive, having looked at the
ide/e-ide specs you really *dont* want an ide/e-ide drive !!
