Hi,
I've been running a homemade access point (Soekris box, 4.7-RELEASE,
Zcomax card in hostap mode) for a few months now without problems. The
firmware of the hostap card is "wi0: Intersil Firmware: Primary 1.00.07,
Station 1.03.06".
I have trouble connecting to that hostap box with a Toshiba e740
PocketPC with its built-in wireless iff WEP is enabled (works fine
without WEP.)
I'm not sure what wireless card the Toshiba has, but I'm guessing it's
also PRISM-based, since the firmware version in the "info" screen looks
familiar:
Firmware: 1.03.06
Driver: 1.07.29
Utility: 1.0.14
According to wicontrol, the Toshiba successfully associates to the
hostap box (its MAC address is 00:01:24:81:40:ad), and the Toshiba
itself also starts displaying signal strength and AP info:
router# wicontrol -l
2 stations:
00:01:24:81:40:ad asid=01b0, flags=3<ASSOC,AUTH>, caps=11<ESS,PRIVACY>,
rates=f<1M,2M,5.5M,11M>, sig=79/30
00:40:96:40:5b:c9 asid=0110, flags=3<ASSOC,AUTH>, caps=11<ESS,PRIVACY>,
rates=f<1M,2M,5.5M,11M>, sig=82/28
However, it fails to get an IP address via DHCP. Here's what tcpdump on
the access point shows when I turn on the Toshiba:
router# tcpdump -s 65535 -X -e -vvv -i wi0 ether host 0:1:24:81:40:ad
tcpdump: WARNING: wi0: no IPv4 address assigned
tcpdump: listening on wi0

Any ideas?
Thanks,
