replace all programs in /usr/bin with perl scripts $ du -ks /usr/bin 11647 /usr/bin Not a bad idea, except I think it would take a while longer to do. (And a great while longer to stabilize to a reasonable confidence level.) Of course 1.3M of that 11.6M is perl.
