Hmmmmm ...... I guess you mean in a GUI mode :) With any unix the appearance is exactly what you want it to 
be. I've yet to see two GUI FreeBSD installations that look even vaguely similar so I dunno what you mean by "good". 
My suggestion is to visit sites like http://www.xfce.org, http://www.gnome.org, http://www.kde.org & have a poke 
around. There's a heap more sites with window managers & no doubt some of the other regulars lurking around here 
will have their favourites .... my preference is definitely XFCE because it looks & performs similarly to the very 
professional CDE as used in Solaris / SCO / D-UX etc, also I have VERY bad memories of lockups etc with KDE 
when I was still messing around with linux, however XFCE is probably more suited to the more conservative of us
 .... boy-wonders may well be prepared to accept less stability if they can get all the flashing lights / bells & whistles
 / dancing girls / etc provided with the likes of Enlightenment
