What I can say is based on a first reading it looks like the two share ancestors. I am glad you have picked it up. There are a few features from KAME in the tree which aren't completely used, and broadly related, e.g. source address selection policies, though they probably should be. Linux's equivalent of PF_KEY for example is buried in there. XORP has a class for the rtnetlink socket which presents a similar internal API to that of the BSD routing socket. cheers BMS
